Surah Yaseen is the 36th chapter of Al-Quran. This Surah could be divided into 5 parts:

Part 1: 1 to 5 verses -- Qualities of Quran

YA, SEEN. These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings. Allah [SWT] says, Al Qur'an is Al Hakeem. Al Hakeem means three things - one which has wisdom (i.e. Full of laws, evidences, and proofs), one that has power to give judgments and one that is throughout consistent. These are indeed the three qualities of Quran. Muhammad [SWS] is among the messengers on the straight path i.e on Islamic Monotheism. This Quran is a revelation of the Exalted in Might (Al Aziz-Name of Allah meaning, Who has authority and respect), the Merciful (Ar-Rahim- The Most Merciful).

Lesson: We need to understand Quran and the Seerah (life) of Prophet [SWS] to live our life in the right way.

Part 2: 6 to 12 verses -- Three steps to convey message to disbeliever

The Prophet Muhammad [SWS] was sent to the people of Quraysh. These people were not warned from Allah since a long time. Warning is itself Allah’s act of mercy. But majority of Quraysh refused to accept Allah’s message. They had no idea of how worthless they were and they were not able to identify the Messenger [SWS] among-st them-selves. The proud disbelievers knew what Prophet [SWS] said was right; their hearts knew what he [SWS] said was truth; but still they didn't want to believe it. They did it due to their arrogance and ignorance. They were stubborn, hence they were in the most hopeless state. Allah says, whatever a person does on daily basis is being recorded by angels in a register.

Lesson: Allah speaks here of three things, on which Quraysh didn't ponder upon. But we need to ponder on these three things.

  1. Everything that Allah has created that is in-front/visible to us.

  2. History of the nations before us (what happened to the disbelievers/ weak believers).

  3. The Quran itself from above (Revelation from Allah).

When we talk to a disbeliever, we need to discuss with him/her the above three things in the above order. A wise person will understand. If he/she is still not able to ponder upon these three things, show him/her warnings mentioned in the Quran. Rest is upon him/her to accept or not.

Part 3: 13 to 32 Verses -- A story of three Messengers and a believer.

Allah [SWT] gave the example of a city, upon whom He had sent three Messengers, one after the other, but those people denied the Messengers. People called the three Messengers as liars, bad omen and ridiculed them. Those people were crossing all limits by committing all kinds of great sins, and by disobeying Allah. Those people also threatened the three Messengers to stone them to death. But there was one believer who came running from a far end of the city to convince to his people about the word of Allah. The word of the Allah reached to this one man, and he accepted Allah, as the one and only GOD. But eventually this one believer was killed by others. Allah [SWT] told him to “Enter Paradise”. Allah sent one Saihah (violent shout), and immediately all the disbelievers were extinguished (silent, dead, destroyed). Their city was completely destroyed. They are forgotten in History.

Lesson: Prophet [SWS] understood from this story that he was not the first Messenger to be called a liar and who is dealing with tough people. It has happened in the past too.

Lesson for us: The contribution (to convey the message of Islamic monotheism) of even one person matters! When a believer enters paradise, he/she will get a SALAM from Allah in Al - Jannah. And this believer will get to see his family on Earth from Jannah. Subhanallah.
