In this second blog post of Surah Rahman, lets understand and take lessons from the remaining parts of this Surah. These two remaining parts talk mostly about the description about the judgement day, how wrongdoers will be dealt in Hell and the rewards for righteous men/jinn in Heaven.

Part 3: About Judgement day and Hell fire

In Verses 35-45, Allah says…"There will be sent against you both, smokeless flames of fire and molten brass, and you will not be able to defend yourselves. And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil – (that day the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil or molten copper or silver or lead). Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn. The criminals will be known by their marks (true believers will have white face and the Dwellers of Hell will have black face), and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet. This is Hell, which the criminals deny. They will go between it (Hell) and the fierce boiling water."

Interpretation and Lesson: Describing Hell is also a mercy from Allah, it prevents people from saving oneself from the Hell fire. Both the groups (Mankind and Jinn kind) have been warned that the time is fast approaching when they will be called to account. This accounting is something which they will not be able to avoid, as God's Kingdom is encircling them from every side. They have no power to flee it.

The consequences of denial of the Lord has been mentioned. The Day of Resurrection is similar to a Horrific graphic scene of a movie!. Hell is a very scary place. And the wrongdoers will not be able to protect themselves from it. It is an act of Allah’s care to warn the wrongdoers so that they could save themselves from the Hell Fire.

Don't get too scared of description of the Hell in these Ayahs ! If we make sure to stay on the right path i.e, on the path of our beloved Prophet [SWS], we need not worry about the punishments and Hell Fire. In Sha Allah. May Allah save us from it.

Part 4: Gifts in Jannah

In Verses 46- 61, Allah says…"Those who fears the standing before His Lord, there will be two Gardens (in paradise) with spreading branches. In them both will be two springs flowing, there will be every kind of fruit in pairs/clusters. The true believers are reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low."

The presence of Hoors is also mentioned here. Hoor’s beauty is described as the beauty of rubies and coral. These creatures are described as being very beautiful.

Allah asks.."Is there any reward for good other than good?"

In Verses 62- 77, Allah further describes the Jannah to be Dark Green in color which will have fruits, date palm, pomegranates, springs. Allah again mentions about the Hoors here. Allah also mentions about the green cushions and beautiful mattresses present in Jannah. Subhanallah.

Lesson - Allah[SWT] rewards the ones who remain content with the lawful doings. The rewards and blessings which will be granted to the righteous men and jinn has been mentioned here. The one who is conscious of the status of his creation will have two Jannahs. There are two Jannah for Elite people, also there are two Jannahs for lower category of believers. There is a difference between the two Jannahs.

The highest category of people get more provisions compared to lower category of believers. Whatever the soul desires will get it all. The true believer who performs all the duties (giving charity, fasting, fearing Allah before doing any act, praying, who hasten to do good deeds) and abstains from all kinds of sins and evil deeds will be admitted into the Paradise.

Hence if we are conscious of our Rabb, we get heaven. Even when Allah scares us it is out of his Gratitude for us. Those who got scared of that warning, will be allowed to be entered in Paradise.

The Verse 78 is "Tabaara kasmu Rabbika Dhul-Jalāli wal-Ikrām" - The interpretation of this verse is "Blessed be the Name of your Lord, the Owner of Majesty and Honor."

Scholars recommend to say "Ya Dhal Jalali wal Ikram" before asking dua so that our dua is accepted. As it is mentioned in the Hadith below:

Anas narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Be constant with: ‘O Possessor of Majesty and Honor (Yā Dhal-Jalāli wal-Ikrām).' ” ~ Reported in JAMI AT TIRMIDHI HADITH NO. 3525
